Mocha Truffle Cookies

Christmas with the Muncey’s was a marathon this year. I got home from skiing in Utah on Tuesday, and then had a party every day through yesterday. That’s four separate Christmas parties. A night-before-the-night-before party, a Christmas eve party, Christmas, and Pickett Christmas. Like I said, a marathon.

Gluten Free Gingerbread Men

Last weekend I mentioned that I had had time to make two types of cookies – I’m cheating this weekend and posting the second instead of making something new. That’s not to say I’m not baking. Yesterday I arrived in Utah to ski with a group of friends that comes out here every year. This is my first year participating, but apparently they take their food plans very seriously.

Eggnog Cookies

This is usually the time of year when I make my cookie tins – five new types of cookies and two full days of baking. However, right now I am on my 10th straight day spending countless hours in the library and subsisting largely on free candy and caffeine. In other words, I haven’t yet had time to dedicate to my usual Christmas festivities.

Gingerbread Spritz Cookies

What’s that? Thanksgiving is in 4 days and you don’t really like to make pie? Don’t worry, I’ve got a solution! Of course, my solution only actually works if you’ve bought in to my frequent endorsements of cookie presses. I recognize it’s an oddly specific kitchen utensil, but at least it’s a cheap one!

Lofthouse Cookies

Halloween is a weird holiday. As a kid, you’re all about the fact that you can dress up in costume and go door-to-door taking candy from strangers. Then, in middle school, you go through this stage where you are just way too old/cool for Halloween and you want nothing to do with it. Fast forward to college and you realize how great it is to have an excuse to dress up in costume again – so great that you decide Halloween should really be extended into a multi-day event.

Dirty Girl Scout Cookies

Thursday was just one of those days when I really needed to bake something. Class got out early, I had done the reading for Friday, and I suddenly had a full afternoon on my hands. Since I was going to the grocery store anyways, I decided to pick a new recipe to try. And, as I usually do when I have friends coming over, I browsed through Boozy Baker to decide.

Old-Fashioned Snickerdoodles

This past Thursday marked my first official day as a law student. Yes, it is still orientation. And yes, my current obligations include things like free food truck lunches and a tour of the Sam Adams Brewery tomorrow. But, I did succeed in arriving to orientation without Harvard informing me that they had made some horrific mistake by sending me communications for the past couple of months indicating they would like me to attend, which is a pretty big win in my book.

S’mores Whoopie Pies

It’s my last weekend of summer vacation. And I still haven’t had a s’more. For some reason, as you grow up, the number of opportunities you have to consume s’mores in the summer greatly decreases. When I was younger, I feel like there was always a fire pit ready and waiting for me to perfect my marshmallow roasting skills, whether on a beach, at a campsite, or in someone’s backyard. We even had an indoor s’mores maker for when there wasn’t a fire handy. This summer, however, I can distinctly remember the one opportunity I had (back in July at

Sea Salt Chocolate Chip Cookies

Greetings from Dublin! Well, actually, I’m writing this on Friday while sitting at my kitchen counter in Massachusetts. But, ever the planner, I wanted it to be ready to just hit “publish” because on Saturday I’d be flying to Ireland and England for a trip with my mom! So, as you read this, I am either at Guinness learning how to pull a pint, or, if you happen to be reading later in the week, hanging out with the wonderful Cate Laporte-Oshiro at Oxford, who I haven’t seen in far too long.

Pistachio Cookies

Summer has this really annoying way of seeming like it stretches on forever until all of a sudden the other end of it is almost here and you’re running out of time. Last weekend, my mom and I were casually browsing travel books while we planned our trip. Today we are in a position, two weeks from being in London,  where we should really have hotel accommodations booked.
