Chocolate Amaretto Cake

I don’t know why I have this idea in my head, but I firmly believe that anything baked in a bundt pan is breakfast food. For some reason, the ring-shape of a cake makes it not a cake cake, just a breakfast cake. Fortunately, all of my friends in town for Harvard-Yale agreed and it’s just about gone.

Light and Fluffy Pancakes

I will never take my electric mixer for granted again. I don’t even feel bad about using a breakfast recipe this week after the feat I undertook to make these pancakes. True dedication to your craft is hand-whisking egg whites until stiff peaks form. I feel like this is a big milestone in my baking career.

Peanut Butter Granola

I don’t really understand how time works on weekends. I always go in thinking I’ll get everything done and still have lots of time to doodle in front of the TV, and then it’s 9:48pm on Sunday and I still haven’t published my blog post.

Lithuanian Coffee Cake

Full disclosure: this is the earliest I’ve started celebrating Christmas in recent memory. Most years, I have a strict no-Christmas-until-after-Thanksgiving rule, but desperate times and whatnot.

Strawberry Bread

Strawberries are a happy fruit. I’m not sure what exactly makes them happy, though. Maybe because they are red. Maybe because they are the June’s fruit, and June is my birthday month. For whatever reason, they are happy.

Many things that normally would not necessarily qualify as a meal find their way into breakfast. Smoothies, which are really just glorified frappes, become nutritious at breakfast. French toast, which we should all just admit is a vehicle for syrup and sugar, is a mainstay at any self-respecting breakfast establishment. It really is a surprisingly versatile meal.

Blueberry Buckle

As I write this post, I am sitting on the patio of our condo, surrounded by beautiful views of Plymouth Bay.  I’m watching a sailboat as it comes out from behind the jetty.  I don’t think my parents are going to be able to get rid of me at the end of this summer.

Fruit n Nut Granola

To preface this post, Yale Bake Shop Granola is hands down the best granola known to man.  It has brown sugar, it has salt, it has raisins, it has large chunks that could pass as granola bars on their own if you take the time to sift through it.  If you’ve ever seen me in the Calhoun dining hall, you know that I can eat the stuff by the bucketful.  It tastes good in alone, in milk, mixed with milk and peanut butter and small pieces of banana and chocolate sauce…  Unfortunately, I graduated already and no longer have access
