Apple Cider Donut Holes

This weekend, I was reunited with my favorite sous chef, the one and only Laura Bakst! Despite living on the same coast, I visited her for the first time since law school (which is slightly embarrassing – I blame her work schedule), and had just the perfect weekend. We walked all around, baked, ate good food, drank good wine, stumbled upon a pickle festival and generally got to just catch up on each other’s lives. I never realize how much I’m craving friend time until I get an uninterrupted weekend of it. When that friend time also includes frying donut

Cinnamon Donuts

A couple weeks ago, for Easter, I made carrot cake. And it was such a cool carrot cake. Very pretty, perfectly “Easter,” the whole deal. But my dad was NOT impressed. “Carrot cake isn’t cake!” He declared. And refused to consume it. So this weekend, when I decided to go out to Duxbury for the night, I wanted to bring him something he’d like. I’ve already made half moons, whoopie pies, and icebox cake, though. Old Fashioned Doughnuts

I think I’m losing my touch. When I first started law school, bringing in treats to class was a surefire way to make them disappear quickly. A short post on my section’s Facebook page, and I could get more people than cookies to come and take said cookies off my hands. It didn’t seem to matter what I baked; I had a willing audience.

Pumpkin Donuts

As promised, the pumpkin trend continues. It almost feels like cheating to make pumpkin bread, pumpkin bundt cake, and pumpkin donuts as separate posts, since for me they all serve the same general function: putting pumpkin in some kind of carb-heavy vessel. But hey, when you’ve been blogging for 3 years, you’re going to have to eventually do some stuff that’s kinda similar.

Donut Bread Pudding with Whiskey Sauce

I have had my eye on this recipe since I first got my Boozy Baker cookbook. And it’s not like I haven’t had ample opportunity to make it before. I always have whiskey on hand. Donuts are easy to go get. I’m a huge fan of anything that only involves one dish.
