Maple Scones

Today was one of those days when it really pays off to be a baker. I saw this recipe on the New York Times Food Instagram account earlier this week and thought it sounded like a good Fall breakfast. When I opened it and looked through the ingredients, I was pleased to find out I wouldn’t even have to go to the store to bake it – everything was in my pantry! When some friends asked what I was baking this weekend and I told them how excited I was that it was a recipe where you’d have everything already

Pumpkin Cheesecake

The last of my back up recipes: Pumpkin Cheesecake. I probably had time to bake this weekend, but it was kind of nice to just be lazy instead. We’ve got a long weekend from school, but the rain and general yuckiness stopped us from heading into the mountains as planned. Oh well. Watching High School Musical and exploring the Massachusetts area isn’t a terrible alternative.

Apple Honey Cake

I’ve been baking up a storm this week! I’ve already made two recipes, and have another one lined up for Wednesday night. This seems particularly amazing given I’ve also been having a crazy busy week otherwise. I guess its true that the more you do the more you can do.

Crustless Pecan Pie

Things you probably wanted before Thursday: a solid traditional dessert recipe for your Thanksgiving meal. Things I didn’t make this year: a solid traditional dessert recipe for my Thanksgiving meal.

Pumpkin Donuts

As promised, the pumpkin trend continues. It almost feels like cheating to make pumpkin bread, pumpkin bundt cake, and pumpkin donuts as separate posts, since for me they all serve the same general function: putting pumpkin in some kind of carb-heavy vessel. But hey, when you’ve been blogging for 3 years, you’re going to have to eventually do some stuff that’s kinda similar.

Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Bundt Cake

As promised, it’s time for pumpkin. And when I decide it’s pumpkin season, I don’t mess around. This morning for breakfast, I had what I like to call the Gunther Tooties Pumpkin Trifecta: a pumpkin bagel with pumpkin cream cheese and a pumpkin spice coffee. I’m not sure you can get much more committed than that.

Apple Pecan Bread

When I hit “publish” on this, I’ll be sitting in a big lake house in Maine with my law school friends, hopefully after a full day of hiking or kayaking or generally being outdoorsy. The plan is to not bring my laptop with me, so hopefully my phone is up to the challenge of logging into WordPress (I’m considering it a “mostly unplugged” vacation).

Apple Pie

As promised last week, this week I’m diving into the apple recipes. Since last weekend, I have made two new apple things, and still have plans of turning the incredible amount of apples I have left into apple chips, a rare recipe that I repeat frequently. That means next week I’ll tell you all how to make Apple Bread.

Gingerbread Spritz Cookies

What’s that? Thanksgiving is in 4 days and you don’t really like to make pie? Don’t worry, I’ve got a solution! Of course, my solution only actually works if you’ve bought in to my frequent endorsements of cookie presses. I recognize it’s an oddly specific kitchen utensil, but at least it’s a cheap one!
