You know you’ve found some great friends when they show up at your apartment, start rooting around in your cabinets, and ask if there’s enough time for them to bake a batch of cookies before taking off on a 6 day vacation sure to be full of kitchen time. That’s what happened on Wednesday when a couple friends from college showed up (Happy Birthday, Marj!).

Thursday was just one of those days when I really needed to bake something. Class got out early, I had done the reading for Friday, and I suddenly had a full afternoon on my hands. Since I was going to the grocery store anyways, I decided to pick a new recipe to try. And, as I usually do when I have friends coming over, I browsed through Boozy Baker to decide.

So today is the first day of the year where I’ve been able to convince myself it’s nice enough to sit on my balcony to type my blog.  Granted, I’m wearing a fleece and cradling a cup of hot tea, but I am outside! Anyways, this weekend I had a group of teachers from my high school over for a potluck dinner.  Now, I’m really bad at potlucks.  Not because I don’t know what to make, but because I want to make everything.  It’s very hard for me to pass up the opportunity to cook things for other people, and by
